2016 TEDxColumbus Women

Available Light Theater

Available Light will be presenting excerpts from the Columbus Voices Workshop. The Columbus Voices Workshop (CVW) is a long-term, multi-layered, civic engagement project. The first round of CVW events will take place at more than a dozen venues in neighborhoods throughout Columbus over 6 weeks in October and November. The goal for each event is simple but significant: to empower everyone in the room to meet and know their neighbors, to strengthen the bonds of community and create new connections.

Over the past year, Available Light has interviewed more than 120 individuals and surveyed more than 200 people on-line. This group of contributors represents the glorious diversity and complexity of the people of Columbus. The words of these more than 300 Columbus-area residents is the foundation of the theatrical presentation of stories and ideas, research and reflection. The Columbus Voices Workshop will be an open house, a collective space, and a participatory community-building experience. This is the kind of work that Available Light has been making for 10 years. It will be a celebration, an investigation, and a city-wide collaboration.
