Tyiesha Radford Shorts
Tyiesha Radford Shorts is a Columbus, Ohio native. An African American, she attended Columbus Spanish Immersion Academy as a child, which caused her to see the world through a diverse – and sometimes confusing – cultural framework. At age 14, Tyiesha began writing poetry as a way to both process what she learned and to give voice to her experiences.
Tyiesha continues to develop her artistic craft by working with the co-founders of Creative Control Festival (CCF). CCF is an annual conference designed to highlight, celebrate, and connect creatives of color within the creative industries. Designers, performing artists, photographers, writers, scholars, and entrepreneurs convene in the historic King-Lincoln District to a build community which extends across the state of Ohio.
She currently works in the field of equity and inclusion, providing ongoing support to Latinx and African American students and faculty through programming
