Ashish R. Panchal, MD, Ph.D.
Ashish R. Panchal, MD, PhD is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services and is passionate about improving the life-saving care given to patients prior to arriving to the hospital. His research focuses on improving prehospital cardiac arrest and airway management as well as defining the risks faced by EMS professionals while providing high quality care.
Nationally, Dr. Panchal is the Research and Fellowship Director for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, the certifying body for EMS professionals in the United States. He is also a leader of the American Heart Association Emergency Cardiovascular Care Scientific Subcommittee and is the Chair of the 2020 AHA Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. These guidelines provide the structure for resuscitation training of over 16 million people per year.
Through Dr Panchal’s work, he pioneers new and innovative techniques to ensure the understanding, implementation, and refinement of best practices for lay bystanders and health care professionals. Dr. Panchal speaks regularly on cardiac arrest care and has given talks throughout the United States and to global audiences.
