A self-described “recovering journalist”, Stu spent a 22-year career in television news as a reporter, as well as working for Ohio Public Radio in its Statehouse News Bureau and a substitute host for WOSU Radio’s “All Sides”. During this time, he has won awards for his writing and storytelling as both a journalist and public relations professional, including the PRSA Columbus Chapter “Prism Award” for I-71-670 Columbus Crossroads Project (Team Award), an Emmy nomination for Best Overall Reporting, Best Reporter / Best Feature Reporting awards from Associated Press, UPI, Iowa Broadcasters Association, Nebraska Broadcasters Association and the Associated Press “Mark Twain Award” for Best Storytelling.
Stu also brings to the table over 14 years working in public and media relations as the PIO and Communications Director for the Central Ohio Transit Authority and the PIO for the Ohio Rail Development Commission. He has also served as Administrative Director for All Aboard Ohio, represented Ohio’s Governor on the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Commission, served as a member of Mayor Michael Coleman’s Downtown Streetcar Committee and is a member of the National Association of Railroad Passengers. He is a life-long advocate for public transportation, bicycling and walkable neighborhoods.
Stu currently works as a free-lance writer for two local public relations firms in Columbus. He is married with two daughters and a granddaughter. In his spare time, Stu has been a girls fast-pitch softball coach for 16 seasons and is an avid bicyclist and photographer.
